The Arts Emporium Hunter Valley Art and Wine Tour Friday 27th April until Sunday 29th April 2012

All creators and companions welcome!

This will be a weekend of Art, Wine, Food, Fun and Good Company,

exploring the beautiful Pokolbin region with a creative tour tailored specifically for artists, and hosted by Julie-Anne Ure & The Arts Emporium

~ Friday Evening ~

-    Arrive at our 4-star accommodation in Pokolbin

-    Join us for a ‘Meet and Greet’ followed by a group dinner

-    Settle in for a good night’s sleep …because you will need all your energy for the next two creative days!

~ Saturday ~

This will be a day of sketching, wine-tasting, galleries and art appreciation

-    Enjoy a hot plated breakfast, then all on board the 5 star coach for -

-    Butterflies Gallery, to view a broad range of contemporary art from local artists including paintings, jewellery, ceramics and glasswork.

-    Followed by the Oakvale Winery for an informative wine tasting, showcasing wines from one of the oldest working wineries in Australia.

-    Brief visit and sketching opportunity at the back of the winery – which is a step back in time with a perfectly preserved historic general store.

-    Our next stop is that The Maitland Regional Art Gallery – Art Appreciation workshop and viewing the current exhibition

-    Then we travel to historic Maitland to the Walka Water Works and the opportunity to sketch landscape, wildlife and a significant historic site.

-    Then back to the hotel for Rest followed by group dinner at a local Restaurant

~ Sunday ~

Today’s focus will be Plein Air, workshops, consultations, drawing and painting

-    Enjoy a hot plated breakfast

-    Followed by a workshop on Subject Matter and Composition

-    Before we head off to The Hunter Valley Gardens.

-    Your third art workshop will take place this morning, where Julie-Anne will guide you through approaches to plein air and activities to further hone your landscape drawing or painting skills.

-    You are now free for drawing and painting and can seek help and/or consultation with Julie-Anne

-    We will then sit among the trees to enjoy a delicious Picnic lunch hamper

The early afternoon session will then be yours to enjoy, by either-

-    Using the techniques learned from the morning session and now having free time to discover, draw or paint the many beautiful sights within the garden.

-    Having further time for individual consultation with Julie-Anne

-    And/Or having time to look around the many boutique arts and craft shops located in The Hunter Valley Gardens Village, where you can try some of the Hunter Valleys famous chocolate and fudge, or indulge in the many varieties of cheese and wine.

-    Visiting The Cessnock Gallery’s current exhibition

-    The coach will then drop us back at the hotel and it is here that we will sadly depart. However you are guaranteed to have plenty of stories to tell your friends (….to make them jealous and inspire you to both plan for the next trip !)

Bring a friend!

If you would like to bring a friend or partner, you are more than welcome to do so because this offer is open to – and can cater for - everyone!

If they would like to come for the weekend, but not participate in the workshops, please contact Nichole for the partial tour rate. However, if they would like to participate as a beginner artists – they would be warmly welcomed!

The fine print….

-    To allow everyone the greatest flexibility, guests will need to arrange their own transport to and from the accommodation in the Hunter Valley. If you need a lift to the Hunter Valley, please contact Nichole and she will try and arrange one for you.

-    A five-star coach will transport guests between venues on the itinerary.

-    Accommodation is 4-star, for 2 people to share one twin room (you will share a room, but not a bed). If you are coming with your partner and require a double room, please advise Nichole at the time of booking. If you require a single room there will be a single supplement fee.

-    The above schedule of events is not confirmed and may change without notice if weather, availability or unforseen circumstances intervene, however we will endeavour to make every adjustment to make this a delightful, interesting and ‘arty’ weekend.

-    You will need to bring your own art materials and equipment, however you will be provided with a detailed list of what to bring on booking and the list will be ‘light’.

-    Drinks and two evening meals are not included. Please bring enough change so that bills can be easily divided!

-    Bring along spending money for the wineries, galleries and the delightful boutique shops

Please note that a non-refundable deposit of $300 is due at time of booking.

The balance is due 2 weeks prior to the event.

Please note our terms & conditions: The workshop requires a minimum of 10 people for it to go ahead. If the weekend has to be cancelled due to a lack of numbers your deposit will be promptly refunded. However, we regret that we cannot refund or credit your deposit should you change your mind or other circum­stances prevent you from attending.
